In this painting of the Eagle Nebula (M16), with ethereal gas and dust, in a celestial cradle of new stars—the myth of Asclepius comes to life. The Greeks saw Asclepius as a symbol of rebirth, his healing power drawn from serpents and the dual nature of Medusa’s blood, which could both restore life and bring death. His defiance of mortality angered Hades, who persuaded Zeus to strike him down, yet he was immortalized among the stars as Ophiuchus, a lasting emblem of healing, transformation, and the cycles of life.
This artwork channels that mythology, revealing a powerful truth: even within the vast darkness of uncertainty and chaos, there lies an infinite reservoir of light with hope and change.
