This painting of the Circinus galaxy lies 13 million light-years away in the southern constellation Circinus. Once obscured by intervening dust, this galaxy was discovered just 25 years ago. It showcases a swirling, luminous core powered by a supermassive black hole, as captured in vivid detail by the Hubble Space Telescope.V-shaped gas structure, glowing whitish-pink, emerges from the galaxy’s center, heated by ultraviolet radiation from the black hole. This feature forms part of a three-dimensional cone projecting into space, creating the appearance of dual cosmic searchlights illuminating the galaxy’s intricate structure.
