Celestial Lightsaber
Acrylic on canvas.
36 x 36 x 1.5 in. (91.4 × 91.4 × 3.8 cm)
Herbig-Haro 24, a newly formed star in the Orion constellation, serves as the inspiration behind this piece. Captured by the Hubble Space Telescope, HH 24 ejects two impressive jets of gas, which collide with surrounding dust and gas. These interactions create shock fronts and unleash extreme heat, soaring into the thousands of degrees Fahrenheit. The result is an awe-inspiring, a visual reminiscent of a celestial lightsaber- in the middle the birth of this nascent star amidst a backdrop of cosmic dust and gas clouds. Just like HH 24, we are all transient phenomena, continually evolving and reshaping our paths through the universe.
