The artist first applied acrylic on canvas, layers of paint were applied and torched to create the burning mountain range. In 2021, the Sierra Nevada forest suffered a historic disaster as 1.5 million acres burned, the worst in the states history of wildfires. This catastrophic event highlighted the urgent consequences of climate change. Inspired by a Los Angeles Times image stating, “California fires are so severe some forests might vanish forever,” this painting conveys the sorrow of lost ecosystems and a call to action. This artwork serves as a manifesto, urging decisive action to safeguard California's natural beauty for future generations.
